This is very thought provoking and well written. There is definitely something safer about relationships that we can put demands on. Also, when time is scarce, it becomes difficult to initiate--or nurture--relationships.

Can I just say that you've become one of my favorite people?! Is that even okay to say after only knowing someone for a few months and seeing them under mostly formal circumstances? I totally see how easy it is to keep relationships shallow, sometimes even under the guise of "I already have enough relationships to juggle" or "I only need a small amount of close friends." The truth is, we're called to a vulnerable community in the Body. Thanks for reminding me of that. How's your joy today? :)
